An interesting portal dedicated not only to the Pali language is being created at the web address pali98.webnode.cz. This study portal is intended to serve all those interested in the Pali language, the canonical language of Theravada Buddhism.

On 8/24/2020 lay Buddhist teacher Dassana left human birth and died this morning at 7:10 AM in Malaysia (local time) at the age of 58. The cause of his death was internal organ failure caused by a serious infectious disease, the symptoms of which had been registered by Brother Dassana only a few weeks earlier.

It is with great sadness and pain in our hearts that we announce that in the early hours of the morning on Friday, July 3, 2020, our dear friend Pavel Lazecký from Studénka died quietly and painlessly in the Dhamma at the age of 51.

The course is led by Visu Teoh, who has been practicing Dhamma since 1982. He was born in Penang, Malaysia, originally worked as a journalist, then was a Theravada Buddhist monk for the next 17 years. He practiced meditation under the guidance of many important teachers such as Sayadaw U Pandita, Sayadaw U Lakhana or bhante Sujiva.

Bhante Ottama, senior Theravada Buddhist monk (bhikkhu) and member of the council of elders of the Theravada Buddhism religious society, will be staying in the Czech Republic and Slovakia from June to August.

Today is Vesak (in Pali Vésakha), the most important holiday of Theravada Buddhism, which always falls on the first full moon in May. On this day, the birth of the Buddha, his awakening and departure to parinibbana are simultaneously commemorated.

Míša Laušmanová from Buddha Mangala asked the venerable Ashin Ottama for a few words about the current “coronavirus” crisis. Below you will find his talk about veils, insight and the necessary bit of mud for lotuses, and finally about eventual liberation from the fear (not only) of death.

Theravada Buddhism terminated its lease of the Buddhist meditation center in Jablonné nad Orlicí as of October 31, 2019, as we did not agree with the owner of the property (Mediate s.r.o.) on the terms of the continuation of the lease agreement.

Sajadó U Tejaniya underwent colon surgery at a specialized clinic in Singapore on 01/08/2018, during which they removed a malignant tumor. Subsequent examination of the lymphatic system and liver did not show spread to these sites. Therefore, the situation is developing well, but the sajadó still has to undergo many examinations and probably further treatment.

With the successful election of adjan Gavésak, the formation of the three-member council of elders was completed. The Council of Elders is the highest body of Theravada Buddhism. It is necessary for its practical activity to have at least three members, which has been fulfilled since February 2019.
